Step 1: Create your own solar project

Get started by exploring the potential of solar for your school! Simply search for your school on our website and use our interactive tool to drag and drop solar panels onto the roof. Our built-in calculator will estimate potential savings based on key factors.

Once you have your customised proposal, print it out and take it to your Business Manager or Headteacher to kickstart the conversation about sustainability and cost savings for your school. It's a simple step towards making a big impact!

There's also a basic version of our paneliser on our app. Download and click 'Take Action'.

Step 2: Engage your school community

Gather input from students, teachers, and staff to define a shared vision for sustainability at your school. Once aligned, sign a collective letter to show unified support for your goals.

Step 3: Talk to your local councillor or MP

Do you have a vision for a more sustainable school environment but struggling with approval? With 'Start Your Own Campaign,' we help you craft impactful letters to MPs and councillors, ensuring your plans get the attention they deserve. We’ll help you overcome bureaucratic challenges and bring your projects to life.

Step 4: Have your voice heard in Government

We have relationships with MPs across the country and can help you connect with yours!

Developing political advocacy and public speaking skills is a key part of the process. Understanding your local impact and how it aligns with national goals is crucial to active democratic citizenship.

Step 5: Get recognition

We will create and send a press release to local media about your MP visit, including quotes from staff and students. Want to raise your school's profile in the community? We can help!

Funding for UK schools

The Solar for Schools Community Benefit Society is a non-profit community that funds solar panels on schools. Funded schools receive the Solar for Schools education programme ('Candle') for free as part of their included 25-year Asset Management package.

Schools with roof space for a minimum of 30kWp of solar can be funded by the CBS. Smaller schools will be considered in clusters.

You can search for any school below and find out its solar potential.
