Mighty oaks can grow from a single acorn.
Here are some ideas about how to get an Eco Club going in your school....
STEP 1: pick a time and make a start. Think about running your club before school, during lunch time or after school
Why run an Eco Club?
Extra-curricular activities should be experienced by every child – expanding pathways to competency-building and children’s chances of success. Extra-curricular experiences also improve resilience, a sense of belonging, numerous soft skills, and even social mobility.
Supporting the school community's environment brings in elements of social justice, team work and fosters respect for your local area.

Looking beyond self, with patience.
Your eco team will pride itself on working for others, from looking after and improving the school environment, to cleaning up the local area.
Taking positive action now to protect a shared future, and living a life of purpose, are integral messages.
The eco club might choose to grow its own school produce, or contribute time and services to the wider community. Planting trees for future generations to enjoy, or campaigning for cycle lanes... many things are possible when you work as a team.
Most important: have fun!
Young people have a natural zest for the outdoors and ideas beyond the curriculum. Support them to make a difference because - however small or wild their ideas, these are the memories they will take away from school.
Not all learning takes place within a classroom, and today's students are our hope for the future. Supporting them to experiment is as important as leading them on the correct path.
